Hello all today is where i finally post something cool and awesome here :)
I will show off my current 6 bike setups and try to explain what they all are with as much detail but to hopefully not overwhelm with terms that no one here would actually understand :)
The Red Rocket
Giant Revolt 1 2023
aluminum frame, carbon fork
This bike is called the Red Rocket (the Rocket for short) was named when my friend Keigan first saw it and immediately said "Chris, please tell me you will name it the Red Rocket" and I was like bet. This is the nicest bike I own by far, it is also the only one I purchased from a shop. The term gravel bike is a little hard to describe perfectly but it essentially is a road bike with a little less aggressive geometry and gravel tires which are wider and have grooves to grip the gravel. this bike is my long-distance bike that's by far my most reliable rig. This thing has gone through so much shit I put it I very much love this bike and it's very nice to have 1 bike with modern parts and just simply works flawlessly :)
The day I got the whip! it looks so nice shiny and new
Sasquatch/bigfoot
Norco Bigfoot 1990
steel frame and fork
This is my BABY, I picked it up on the marketplace from a guy's ad that just said "bike, $50". Buddy did not know what he had lmao. This bike is very unique due to the Triple Triangle (look at that little triangle right under the seat) design because that is a patent by the bike brand GT. This bike by Norco is the lawsuit bike because GT sued Norco for the design making this frame very rare and hard to find. I would be surprised if I ever saw another one of these bikes in person which makes it sooooo cool >:). Since last October I have been slowly upgrading it with modern parts and it is now pretty much a complete build. the current gearing in the back looks nice but the gaps between gears are pretty annoying so maybe one day it will be changed up it just looks so nice so idk if I'm going to be bothered to change it
Wrist Breaker
PureFix Cleveland circa 2013
steel frame and fork
This bike has very much earned the name WristBreaker. Back in April 2023 I was ripping down by the Africville area in Halifax on Marginal Road N when my wheel plops into the perfect hole to get stuck and I Immediately ate shit and fractured my wrist :). I have never experienced so much pain in my life but honestly, it wasn't Thaaaat bad, to be honest, as well it earned me a cool scar so that's a fair trade I guess.
(here's my crash)
The reason this bike is so dangerous is because it is a Fixed Gear which means that the pedals are directly connected to the wheel meaning that you can't stop pedaling or it will kick you off the bike. the only reason people ride these is because they are fun and cool. Normally they are not ridden in a hilly place like Halifax due to only having 1 gear you essentially have to force your way up the hill with as much power you got or your fucked but it's a great way to learn to have equal power throughout the whole pedal stroke as well it is lots of fun breaking by pedaling backward and doing massive skids. I also use the rear wheel to sticker bomb with awesome and cool stickers shoutout Garfield, Snoopy, and Taylor Swift
I even took this thing to Massachusetts when I went to a melee major tournament Shine which was a wild weekend but it was cool vibing around a flatter town on fixed
Mcintosh Ripper
Norco Bushpilot 2008
aluminum frame and fork
this is my current mountain bike, picked it up for $40! off marketplace with a bent derailour hanger which is why I got it for so cheap. the owner thought the bike was simply toast cause the rear wheel wasn't moving but I bent it back and it works as good as new. the McIntosh Ripper got its name because I got it specifically to take it on McIntosh Ridge which is a mountain bike trail system in Spryfield this is my only bike with suspension at all even though it is a 26er it still will go and do pretty much I want to (not fast though). I also put a couple of upgrades including bars, fork, and front tire from marketplace making this build about 200$ total which isn't bad IMO. Ideally, one day when I have money I will buy myself a better mountain bike and sell this one but that's for the future because currently, this is all I have for MTB but I aint complaining, I've even taken it downhill on Wentworth, and Sugerloaf NB (my friend Ellis broke his collar bone on sugarloaf on the first trail so I didn't really ride it down but technically I did for 10 seconds so I'll count it).
we installed the new suspension fork literally at Wentworth because I bought the fork by someone who lives nearby there lol
Atomic Hotdog
No idea what bike this is LOL
magnesium/aluminum frame(not sure), aluminum fork
This is my first ever bike I've pretty much built from the frame, I got the frame, wheels, and brakes for 83$ from the place bike again which is a banger deal. what makes this bike so cool is that we have no idea what it is, when we first saw it there was no branding and it had a bunch of expensive parts on it(sadly other people took the parts off for themselves) but that means we don't know the story of it or the model/brand so who knows what this bike could be. but the first thing we noticed was how light the frame was which is quite interesting because it made us try and figure out what kind of metal it was made out of. there is a chance it's aluminum but due to it being light, there is a very small chance that's a magnesium frame which would be really really cool. sadly there is no way of telling if it is magnesium making the hotdog an absolute mystery which makes it even cooler >:). It took me about a month and a half and I finally got it rideable which is sweet because it is FAST, it also weighs about 20.2 lbs which makes it the lightest bike I own by far
599
Trek Fx 7.5 2009
aluminum frame, carbon fork
This is technically my dad's bike but in its lifetime he put about 50km on it and I've put over 1300 so whose bike is it really? this bike is a very nice commuter and I essentially use it to go places around town, this is the safest bike to lock because it was originally a touring company bike and it has the letters 599 written all over it and it has a lot of anti-theft stuff on it like the specific locking mechanisms like for the wheels and Seatpost
I don't do much out-of-city stuff on this thing because I have many other bikes for that but I love just putting a lock in the rear bag and locking it anywhere I want. (I don't use Uber ever when I have this thing)
RETIRED BIKES
I have a few bikes I used to own but don't anymore :)
The CCM
CCM Endurance
aluminum frame, carbon fork
This is the first bike I bought myself and what got me into cycling, I took this thing to pretty much all the rides and it was my introduction to road riding, For what this bike is is pretty good but it very much is a POS and I was very happy when I finally upgraded but getting something from a burger king parking lot for 180 it served me well I probably did about 2000 km on it so I got my money's worth for sure
I saw this and I was like, yeah I need a new bike and I asked my friend Keigan if I should buy it and he said yes so I did. this was back in 2021 when buying bikes was near impossible due to there being no supply anywhere due to the covid biking boom. now this thing lives on with jawesome on his trainer so good for him :)
Original Revolt
Giant Revolt 1 2021
aluminum frame, carbon fork
This is the dreaded bike that got stolen ;(, that was such a sad day for me. I'll never forget the day I go back to the bike rack and it's just gone and my heart just drops so hard. That was the worst walk of shame of all time. I'm not too sure how it got stolen but I must've not locked it up properly because the lock and helmet were still intact on the floor. it sucks too because it was under camera and security saw it happen and was like "We saw your bike get stolen 20 minutes ago" and I was like bruh. I didn't even get to look at the footage and the cops were like "We can't really do anything but we will look around I guess" and so they were USELESS. incredibly a year and a few months later I randomly got a call from my buddy Keigan and he said " I SEE YOUR BIKE" he retrieved it from the guy who claimed it was bought from a homeless man but whatever I got it back which is insane and was one of the best feelings in the world to get it back ;)
this is the state of the bike when it was retrieved which is wild, the poor thing but considering I bought a new version of the same bike I didn't care I was just happy I got it back. I ended up selling it to my buddy Iain for a good deal because I had no use for 2 of the same bike and I would rather see a friend ride it and have the frame still around
SuperCycle Hooligan
"lightweight aluminum and fork"
this is the biggest shitter bike I've ever had. very much a Canadian tire bike my dad bought years prior and I simply used it to ride around town before I knew anything about bikes. I mean it did the job and I somehow road 80km on it once which is pretty insane considering it weighs 44lbs.... I ended up donating this to bike again which is honestly the best place for this thing to go lol
Thanks for reading for those who let me nerd out on my bikes :)
this only scratches the surface of the bike stuff I go through but I just wanted to share some cool things
