I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations to actually putting pen to paper when writing a story, because I've been gestating a story ideas in my head for YEARS, but I hardly ever write any of them down.

you could make a diagram of important plot events/characters all in a web/chain so then you can formulate the story without actually writing stuff. and then later you could flesh it out piece by piece. personally i think making diagrams is fun and doesnt feel like work, and to me actually sitting down and writing something would feel like work lol

Hi. Writing guy here.

Honestly, the advice that helped me the most is that you shouldn't feel pressured to start at the beginning. I would often spend too much time thinking about how a story should start instead of actually writing. Sometimes it it easier to start somewhere in the middle and go from there.
