real as hell. i would unironically love to spend my time posting on forums rather than on twitter, but obviously twitter is where all the people are. there is just something so appealing and fun about the medium of forums.

Like most forums are run by communities for the sake of community. Modern social media is just structured around pissing people off for engagement just to get ad money; here, there's nothing like that.
Slightly related, I've recently been browsing neocities a lot (https://neocities.org/), and I've really come to love it. No clout chasing. No doing or saying stupid shit just to game a broken algorithm. It's really something, and it's comforting knowing that that sort of thing that geocities allowed in the late 90s/early 2000s still lives on.
