animoji/meta avatars hate thread

i do not know why, but these all look just... so incredibly ugly and off-putting??? especially the meta stuff?

like, maybe its the over-exagerated cuteness/disney-ness of all of these?

this is probably gen z nostalgia talking here, but something like Miis felt more restrained/neutral...? like with these, it feels like they're just overdoing the whole cute/appealing/corporate friendly factor. again, i dont exactly know how to put it into words.

i dont mind the animojies that much (i mean i have an android anyways so idc) because i think they fit apple's aesthetic pretty well but OH BOY those meta avatars

they look like characters from an in-universe advertisement in a shitty movie

i also hate them with a passion (lorg hates something ?? impossible). like think of how many dystopian movies/novels there are about "having an idealized avatar for a virtual world that doesnt reflect who u are irl". now we have companies that are trying to push that, BUT THEYRE NOT EVEN COOL!!!!!!!!!! THEYRE UGLY AND STUPID AND CARTOONISH AND LAME!!!!!!! and they never have enough options to make it actually look like you/even remotely distinct or unique because besides the most surface level characteristics, the face has to fit within the "cute" artstyle so they're really all the same. if were gonna have "virtual avatars for a *metaverse*" WHY DOES IT HAVE TO LOOK LIKE SHIT. theyre unexpressive and boring and unoriginal and stiff and cringe and UGLY.
