worst moments in music history (top gizzard moments)

Post by puffin »

i hate!! king gizzard and the lizard wizard! they suck!!!!

anyways here are (some of) the best moments in their discography in no particular order:

gaia solo thingy
https://youtu.be/dPXObWXgvbw?t=238

gaia is maybe probably maybe just maybe probably the best metal song that kg have ever made and that mostly comes down to the kickass solo/instrumental section like four minutes into the song. it sounds so le epic and heroic and just fuckin sick mate

last verse of MAGMA
https://youtu.be/8fXqRAyu1d0?t=461

fuuuuck the last verse of magma is crazy. linking the kexp version just because its better than the album version but its mostly the lyrics that i like so much about this part so it doesnt reaaally matter :3 anyways this part is just so fun to sing along with!!! MAGMA, SUBTERRANEAN TSAR. THE SCIMITAR AND THE NEUTRON STAR. MAKES FROM ETHER, BASALT WEAVER. OBSIDIAN CLEAVER, MAKE BELIEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

amby goin fucking NUTS in iron lung
https://youtu.be/wb0fW8yQCHc?t=314

ok three 2022 songs so far they were kinda cooking last year fr......... speaking of cooking we are talking about ambrose's section on the bridge where he is screaming about frogs or something idk idc it just goes so hard. when they played this in montreal last year he was running all around stage just belting out the lyrics what a fuckin sick cunt what a guy anyways love this part its very good. guitars go brazy too

that gamma knife drum solo tho :flushed:
https://youtu.be/nC7ii3Ir-no?t=206

throwin it back like 200 albums all the way back to 2016... a little ol thing called NONAGON INFINITY. ever heard of it!?!!?! this was my favourite gizz song back when i first really got into them and its still a certified hood classic. the drum solo is particularly tasty check it outttttt

mr joe walker goin insane on that o.n.e. guitar solo
https://youtu.be/lkZd2lBQb2c?t=130

this part is super short which is LAME!!!!!!!! but idk it just gives me goosebumps every time. everything else in the song cutting out leaving just Mr. Joseph "Walky Jake" Walker on his microtonal geee-tar and oh lord oh goodness oh god in heaven is he shredding that thang for like 7 glorious seconds.

you know what time it is. hell outro time
https://youtu.be/R3qeJXtDhKU?t=161

fun fact: i lied earlier. hell is their best metal song. imagine you are listening to the critically acclaimed king gizzard and the lizard wizard album infest the rats nest. you are pogging you are having a good ass time cause its a good ass album. you get to the final song and are ready for an epic ending. but after just a couple minutes of a good but pretty simple song, it seems like it is ending. you are sad. but then suddenly, the guitars start again, followed by the drums. it starts slow but quickly becomes faster and faster until they are shredding your damn clothes off. then the best three lines you have ever heard arrive: FIFTEEN INFANTRY PARATROOP INTO THE PROPYLENE NEW SCENE / HELL'S WHERE THEY WANNA BE / INFEST... THE RATS' NEST. then it ends. you are stunned. flabbergasted. what the fuck just happened. that is the outro of hell ladies and gentlemen.

their best ever verse, the third of loyalty
https://youtu.be/3bvyPJwe9Zc?t=147

i'm not gonna say much about this one. just listen and read along with the lyrics for the third verse of loyalty. i think you will understand why it is here.

the parts in the dripping tap where the tap do be dripping
https://youtu.be/oDMldn7hFZo?t=968

this part happens twice in the song: once at around 5 minutes and 20 seconds in, and again at around 16 minutes and 10 seconds in. they just go fucking crazy shredding the guitars. enough said. drip drip from the tap dont slip.

mars for the rich bass solo
https://youtu.be/i9qWYUH5x3k?t=187

yes lucas. go lucas. go lucas. go lucas. go lucas. so fuzzy and THICK!! and the bass sounds good too

shanghai goes acoustic
https://youtu.be/-01sgnVgkRc?t=190

i love love love this part in shanghai at the end where the synths take the back seat and a regular piano starts playing the melody. it just sound so damn nice and smooth.

this one part near the end of smoke and mirrors
https://youtu.be/Zh-NTKaPXiQ?t=724

the two songs of made in timeland are less songs are more like mosaics of different soundscapes. my favourite of these has to be the second last part of smoke and mirrors, where one of the more electronic sections melts into this beautiful and serene moment in time(land). idk why but it kinda reminds me of long season by fishmans.

joey's verse on hells itch
https://youtu.be/3aUKofcKfmg?t=633

for some reason this song doesn't get a lot of love but its my favourite song from ice death and my third favourite king gizzard song overrall. one of my favourite parts of the song is joey's verse which is such a satisfying and amazing climax to this fucked up but beautiful track. the breeze on my flesh, feels so fuckin good.

change's climax
https://youtu.be/3XAhEUHt3zY?t=688

i almost put joey's verse from this song on here but c'mon it just has to be that final section. im just a sucker for explosions of fuzzy sound and this is one of the absolute best examples of that in the band's catalog. joey's verse is also amazing though. just listen to the whole song. listen to all of these songs. listen to every king gizzard song. do it now. except the 12 bar bruise title track maybe dodge that one...

the final bit of the river
https://youtu.be/MI_XU1iKRRc?t=468

Image

you know i had to save the best for last: the climax of crumbling castle
https://youtu.be/8Ycw7udHOnw?t=438

crumbling castle is my favourite song of all time and i could probably write an entire essay on it alone but for the purposes of this post i just wanna highlight the way each section throughout the 10 minute track so expertly and perfectly come together in this final burst of sound, resulting in a moment that still gives me goosebumps even after listening to the song hundreds of times. as with polygondwanaland in general, there is so much going on here but it just barely stays under the threshold of just becoming pure chaos.

ok im going to bed now :D might add to this later

ok wait here's one more before i go to bed: the last refrain of hypertension
https://youtu.be/BDJ3nQAanMA?t=836

"i caught that hypertension
in another dimension
inside my time invention
i've laminated denim" is basically in my head 24/7 at this point.

also love how stu somehow makes "denim" into a three syllable word. bro really says "denny umm"
